Taught by Dr Piotr Wyroślak
WS 2025/2026
Course description
This course will demonstrate how corpora – big and small collections of texts – can be used in linguistic analyses. In class, we will look at corpora representing diverse kinds of language use. Our examples will include spoken and written corpora of different languages and language varieties, with particular attention to linguistic data from the internet. Through practical exercises and demonstrations, we will develop practical skills for corpus exploration. Our discussions will help you access linguistic research that features corpus methods and understand the role of corpora in the rapidly evolving technological landscape. During the course, you will prepare a small corpus analysis in an area of your interest or advance your ongoing research project.
